Youth News is an innovative and exciting project run by the rust in partnership with Merthyr Tydfil Housing association.

Our Newsletter coordinator is Amber Lewis. If you have a community event or are interested in writing or journalism, then please contact the Charity office on 01685 388888 to find out how you can get involved.

Youth News is printed every 12 weeks and is free of charge. If you would like your school or community project to receive a copy please contact us.

Our previous Newsletter coordinator Jordon Davies is now employed by Stephens and George Print Group as a Bindery operator. Please click here to read about Jordon’s transition from volunteer work to employment.

Young people come together every Tuesday night to share their ideas, writing skills and artistic talents. They learn journalistic and communication skills from establisher writers such as Mike Jenkins and are given the opportunity to attend events and activities, such as the Abergavenny Food Festival and Peterstone Court in Brecon. They then work together to write up their experiences and compile them into a newsletter for the benefit of themselves and their peers.

The newsletter is printed by S&G and distributed into the community. It is the first ever newsletter in Merthyr Tydfil that has been created by young people for young people.

There are two editions of the newsletter so far and the third edition is well underway and is hoped to be distributed across the Borough in May. Copies of these are available on the Trust Website.
