Join Steve & George in Celebrating
World Book Day 2014!

World Book Day takes place on the 6th of March this year, so join us on Merthyr High Street to celebrate the world of literature.

At the Trust, our aim is simple; to raise literacy standards. Following the success of the Spread The Word Festival last year, World Book Day gives us the perfect opportunity to celebrate and promote literature throughout Merthyr Tydfil once again.

Our vision is to entertain the people of South Wales with music, art and literature, promoting Merthyr Tydfil high street as a cultural venue synonymous with World Book Day.

We’re lucky to be supported by dedicated volunteers who’ll help ensure the day runs smoothly, they’ll even be dressing up as some of your fictional characters!

What can you look forward to?
Our Programme is designed to entertain people of all ages, making it
a day of fun for the whole family.
We’ll be hosting a variety of events throughout various locations in
Merthyr Tydfil town centre including;

  • Live Music and Poetry Readings
  • Authors, Poets & Special Guests at The S&G Book Shop
  • Structured Programme for Schools throughout the day
  • Historical tours of the town hosted by author and historian Huw Williams
  • A selection of Stalls selling literature, food, drink and more.

If you’re passionate about reading and you share our vision to improve literacy levels in the local community join us on the 6th of March to celebrate World Book Day 2014.
